Open Question: whats the big deal with playing the guitar very fast? does that make necessarily make one great?

do people on here really measure talent by "technicality"? ive heard so many play the guitar really quick and it just sounds dull to me a lot of times. now if i listen to something like jimi hendrix, i sure i dont get all the "speed" or whatever you want to call it but his music just connects with me and i love listening to it. im probably in the minority when saying that. i thought all music is supposed to have something called feeling in it. now im not talking r&b feeling (thats just soft). im talking of something different...
